The Golden Line refers to any line that speaks to you, makes you think, or that strikes you as particularly beautiful. For each section, choose a golden line and write out the entire line as part of your post. Print the page # that the line appears on. Add a few sentences explaining why that line appeals to you. Grammar and spelling count!
Please start your post by stating which section of the text we're working on. For example:
Section 2 Golden Line: "I smelled the burning and heard the horrible crackling as the fire singed my hair and eyelashes" (Walls 9). This line struck me with particular sharpness because I have a daughter about the same age as Jeannette Walls is when this event happens. The idea that a parent would neglect to give food to their small child (and then not supervise them as they started to cook over an open flame) is abhorrent to me. As a parent, I found this portion of the text terrifying.
